Babe's Calvary MS team went an amazing 16-2 in the regular season. He strained his rotator cuff in the first game, so did not get to catch as much as he would have liked, but he ate up playing short stop. Babe got back to pitching late in the season and batted .480-ish.
Brant toughed out a rough season with Calvary's Varsity Team as they went 3 and 17. A new coach operating with a new system meant Brant did not see the playing time he'd hoped for after years of paying his dues, but B tried to make the most of his last high school season.
It was nice to have my mom and sister, Kari, along with Drew's folks here for both Jay's Confirmation and to celebrate Mother's Day. We moms were treated to a delicious lunch at Oso and an afternoon concert on the porch by Will.
Brant was honored as one of five graduating senior baseball players tonight at the Cougars' last home game of the season. Brant escorted me out on to the field as the PA announcer cited Brant's high school achievements and future plans. Can you tell I'm BEAMING???
I gave up teaching high school English after the birth of my first son. Seventeen years later, I don't miss it! Life is plenty busy with church and school volunteer projects, a house to keep up and tracking our 5 boys--2 of which were recently adopted from Liberia-- in their crazy sports/music/school schedules.
